LENEXA, Kan. (July 27, 2018) – Alynix is excited to announce its partnership with the Kansas Department of Aviation’s (KDOT) Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Integration Pilot Program (IPP). This program will allow the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to create new regulations based on information collected by government and private partners.
Alynix is one of KDOT’s 32 team members and the only nonacademic operational partner to be selected for the project’s initial conceptual operations. The first round of operations will also be provided by the University of Kansas and Kansas State University.
As a part of this program, Alynix will use UAS to capture long linear infrastructure beyond visual line of sight as it relates to roads and bridges. This will involve a phased approach starting with enhanced visual line of sight operations to develop aircraft sensors and safety cases for future projects that are beyond the visual line of sight. Because Alynix is able to perform this work under the FAA’s current regulations, it will have a large role in determining what the economic impact of beyond visual line of sight projects will be under future rules.

Alynix brings prior operational experience with UAS technology and transportation infrastructure to this program. Its knowledgeable on-staff pilots use the company’s engineering capabilities to deliver solutions through aerial data collection for services including mapping, infrastructure inspections, infrared mapping and more. This experience will assist Alynix in translating economic savings for the IPP.
